At Arden Foodbank we are all unpaid volunteers. We have no paid staff. To celebrate Volunteers Week at the beginning of June, Arden Foodbank said a huge thank you to all our amazing volunteers. To those who help each week at our food banks in Studley and Alcester; to those who transport the food and other items from our warehouse to the food banks; to those who manage our warehouse, buy the food and ensure it is all in date; to those who attend events to help out; and to those who work behind the scenes keeping records, managing our finances, organising volunteers, and managing our marketing and communications.
Each day of the week, different volunteers were introduced.
Monday shone the spotlight on four of our volunteers at our food bank in Studley.
.
Team leader Christine, said “Volunteering is so rewarding, with all of us working well together to help those families who need a bit of support to get them through hard times”.
On Tuesday we met Roger and David delivering supplies from our warehouse to our food bank in Studley.
On Wednesday we showcased our lovely manager, Susan, who was instrumental in setting up Arden Foodbank eleven years ago.
Susan commented “Having worked in the East End of London in the 1960s, I was shocked to read about the problems in this century and decided to volunteer at the food bank. I have not only been able to help those in need, but have also made many friends amongst my fellow volunteers.”
Thursday we introduced Paul one of our team leaders in Alcester.
When asked why you volunteer, one of the Alcester volunteers said “I enjoy volunteering at the food bank because you feel like a link in a chain between those who donate and those who receive. We meet those who need food but we often don’t get to meet those who donate food and money. We act as intermediaries and that’s really satisfying”.
On Friday we showcased Fiona, Paula, Chris, Linda, Pamela and Janet from our Alcester food bank.
Janet, the team leader, commented “I feel very fortunate to be able to help others who sometimes need a hand up. I enjoy chatting to people over a cuppa while they are waiting for their food parcel. It is good to know you can make a difference to people’s lives by connecting them with other agencies”.
On Saturday, we saw Hilary and Helen on our stall at the D-Day 80 celebrations in Studley.

Hilary is one of our team leaders at Studley and is one of our founding members 11 years ago. Helen handles our social media and marketing.
And on Sunday we brought everyone together.
