Team Arden Foodbank Out and About in July

12th August 2025

Meet Roger, one of our small team of volunteers who transport food every week from our warehouse to our distribution centres at the Methodist Church in Studley and the Eric Payne Community Centre in Alcester.

In July Roger set out to raise £2000 by cycling 500km that month, all in support of Maggie’s, a fantastic charity set up to support people and families living with cancer, with practical and emotional support.

Since starting his challenge on 3 July, Roger has smashed his 500km target, cycling 841kms, or 526 miles, and to date (11 August) he has raised £2,240. The money will go towards building a new Maggie’s  enter in Coventry as currently there are none in the West Midlands.

Maggie’s is a charity very close to Roger’s heart. In December 2024 he was diagnosed with cancer in his left kidney which necessitated its removal in January 2025. Initially it was hoped that all the cancer was removed with the kidney, but sadly that does not seem to be the case and further treatment is needed. He is still awaiting his next operation but remains positive thanks to friends and family. He is visiting Maggie’s to get support and a better understanding of his treatment.

All Roger’s friends at the Foodbank are wishing him all the very best. If you would like to support Roger, donations are still being accepted at https://maggies.enthuse.com/pf/roger-cliffe-b9d84
